WHAT IS The Equal Opportunity Model (FEM)?

The Equal Opportunity Model is a business model produced and developed by KAGIDER Association. The Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey (KAGIDER) is a non-governmental organization that aims to empower women in society through entrepreneurship. They produce projects aiming to strengthen them economically, politically, and socially. While the "Equal Opportunity Model," developed by the Turkish women entrepreneurs association, was implemented, cooperation with the World Bank was ensured, and technical support was obtained. While creating the model, working with only one World Bank was not enough, and cooperation was ensured with many national and international institutions and organizations. Progress has been made by receiving support within the scope of the digital data analysis program opened by the World Bank with the abbreviation GEM (Geo-Enabling Initiative for Monitoring) to create global public interest.

What are the Goals of the Equal Opportunity Model?

First, it aimed to eliminate gender inequalities in the workplace. It is a target set to ensure gender equality in the private sector. Another goal is to provide equal employment rates and pay for similar work. Encouraging equal pay for equal work was aimed to increase the rate of women in the workforce. At the same time, it will be ensured that women have a more productive working environment in their jobs. Another final goal is the formation of corporate policies that will encourage processes that ensure equal opportunity in business life.

What are the Objectives of the Equal Opportunity Model?

The Equal Opportunity Model determines several primary objectives. It aims to identify inconsistencies in processes such as recruitment, training, career planning, and development and to put an end to techniques based on gender discrimination in the business world.

What are the Granting Criteria for the Equal Opportunity Model?

Companies that want to be a party to the Equal Opportunity Model must meet many criteria. The first desired criterion should be a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the administration. Equal opportunities should be given, and the right to be recruited and elected should be given. All employees should be given access to the same training opportunities. At the same time, they should be allowed to move up the career ladder. For this, an environment where performance evaluations are made equally should be created. Another commitment is to create a separate assistance process for women in their career planning. In addition, a system should be created to follow up on feedback and complaints to ensure gender equality. Finally, priority and value should be given to gender equality in corporate communication and advertising processes.

Institutions and organizations must have undergone an independent evaluation process to receive the Equal Opportunity Model certificate. At the same time, they need to show their sensitivity to the national and international public through their activities and employment statistics on gender equality and empowering women's employment in every field and at every opportunity.

As a result, many conditions for the Equal Opportunity Model (FEM) Certificate are given to companies that pursue gender equality in areas such as recruitment, training, career planning, and communication. It is a certificate program that allows the private sector to demonstrate its commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment in business.
