Companies and institutions that want to receive funds from the European Union have been forced to support gender equality. Companies and institutions that are not focused on gender equality will no longer be able to benefit from the funds.
The European Commission is seeking funding to prevent gender equality gains from being destroyed by the pandemic. He announced that by 2025, 85% of aid projects will be related to empowering women. He emphasized that since the adoption of the Gender Equality Action Plan, no country has made significant progress in achieving gender equality by 2030. Women and girls have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic.
It is stated that the rate of job loss of women is 1.8 times higher than that of men. For this reason, he pointed out that the poverty rate between men and women could increase by 9.1 percent. As a result of the data given, the Commission has committed that 85% of new foreign aid projects will contribute to gender equality and women's empowerment by 2025.
Finally, they reiterated that they will maintain this ratio, saying that close to 65% of the assistance provided in 2019 supports gender equality. The European Union has proven that it will continue to produce policies that ensure gender equality with these and similar decisions.
