Avrupa Birliği'nin (AB) Kurumsal Sürdürülebilirlik Raporlama Direktifi (CSRD)

The European Union's (EU) Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) was adopted by a decision in 2023 and entered into force in 2024. As a country with solid commercial relations with the EU, Türkiye plays an active role in sustainability.

Sustainability reporting in Türkiye has made significant progress recently. For example, the "Sustainability Reporting Guide" published by the Sustainability Association in 2022 has raised awareness in the sector. In addition, the "Sustainability Reporting Academy," launched by the Turkish Sustainability Institute in 2023, will expand its field of expertise and facilitate access to information.

Turkey has no precise legal regulation on CSRD, but the country is determined to contribute to the EU's sustainability goals. Implementing CSRD in Türkiye will enable the spread of sustainability reporting to increase transparency and stakeholder access to information.

Although a clear roadmap on how CSRD will be implemented in Türkiye still needs to be developed, options such as full implementation of the EU directive, adaptation, or introduction of a new regulation are being considered. In this regard, cooperation and coordination of relevant institutions is necessary. Although Türkiye has taken essential steps in sustainability reporting, it will become even more vital with the implementation of CSRD. Joint efforts and cooperation for a sustainable Türkiye will shape the future.
